Teacher Training Program

The Center for Islam in the Contemporary World offers courses and workshops for Islamic school teachers and leaders aimed on Prophetic Pedagogies: methods, techniques  and style of instruction that are drawn from the life practices of the Prophet Muhammad sws.  The Prophet Muhammad sws was the perfect embodiment of an Islamic educator and our Center's researchers are constructing original conceptualizations of his teaching and leading practices as they inform the educational priorities of today’s classroom teachers and school leaders.  The Center prioritizes the professional development of Islamic school educators as an effort to positively influence student achievement and strengthen Islamic schools across the Muslim community. We welcome collaboration with educators to mutually design programs that advance Islamic teaching, learning, and leadership practices.

Workshops will be offered on specific Prophetic Pedagogies. We are developing a hands-on, active learning professional development program.  Participants will have unique opportunities to learn, plan, and collaborate with other engaged educators. We hope to transform the teaching and learning practices of Islamic School educators by:

  • applying the Prophet Muhammad’s sws approach to instruction
  • responding to the social and emotional needs of Muslim students in today’s American context
  • envisioning a set of best practices to influence curriculum, assessment, and reflection according to an Islamic paradigm.
