Mariam Ewais is a native Arizonan, aspiring to be a physician, but more currently, a sophomore at Arizona State University. Majoring in biological sciences (neurobiology, physiology, and behavior), psychology, and global health, Mariam hopes to introduce a diverse background into the medical field not only in academics but as a person. Unlike a lot of her peers, Mariam wasn't always sure she wanted a career in the medical field and often felt intimidated by those who have known they wanted to do this since middle or high school. She always felt that she was at a disadvantage for that but learned through a journey of self-discovery, her diversity meant a deeper-rooted passion. She knows what her life is with and without medicine and discovered that she never wants to have to live without it. Outside of school and studying, one can find Mariam either swimming (AZ heat is no joke!) or curled up with a good book at home with friends, family, and her cat Leo.
