Director of the Program: Ermin Sinanović (CICW)
Assistant Director: Dr. Nisa Muhammad (Howard University)
The inaugural CICW’s summer program, “Islam in the Contemporary World,” is a graduate students’ institute whose objective is twofold:
Our learning community discussions, led and facilitated by Dr. Nisa Muhammad, will enhance the morning academic sessions. These discussions allow the students to take academic material and make it relevant in their lives. Topics include What it Means to Be Muslim on Campus, Leading on Campus with Islamic Values, Gender Equity, BLM (Black Lives around the Messenger peace be upon Him), Living the Quran, and the students’ choice of topic. This will be a safe and sacred space to share feelings in a non-judgmental manner that allows the students to continue to grow.
