"Engaging Holistically with the Quran: Reviving Moral Beauty (Ihsan) in Faith Education to Cultivate Compassion, Resilience and Well-Being”
with Dr. Raghad Ebied
Saturday, November 15
11:00 am - 12:15 pm EST
Online Workshop
This session seeks to reawaken the heart of Faith Education by inviting educators, school leaders, and community members to explore how to encourage holistic engagement with the Qur’an in their schools and communities through Tadabbur (reflective contemplation), Tazkiyah (spiritual purification), and Tarbiyah (holistic moral and ethical development). Participants will reflect on ways to foster Ihsan (moral beauty) in order to cultivate environments of compassion, resilience, and well-being. Rooted in Divine Love, Prophetic guidance, and contemporary educational insights, this session offers a practical approach for the Qur’an, drawing on the heart and mind, to inspire positive transformation in teaching, leadership, and community life.
Dr. Raghad Ebied is an educator, author, and Founder and Director of Ihsan Education™, which inspires ihsan - moral beauty - to cultivate spiritual leadership, compassion, and resilience among individuals and communities in support of holistic well-being and meaningful service to society. As an Ontario Certified Teacher by profession, she holds a PhD in Critical Policy, Equity, and Leadership from Western University with a focus on compassionate and resilience-based approaches to support diverse and Muslim students’ well-being, equity, and belonging. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Center for Leading Research in Education and Contract Teaching Faculty at Wilfrid Laurier's Faculty of Education and has over 15+ years of experience in leadership education, teaching, training, and research in schools, university, government, and non-profit organizations. She is grateful to be a student of Quran and Classical Islamic sciences and to support spiritual and community education in the Muslim community through Quran Engagement programs, including the Center for Islamic Theology, Ethics, and Spirituality at Huron University, chaired by Dr. Ingrid Mattson. Through her work, Dr. Ebied integrates faith, heart-centered pedagogy, and contemporary educational insights to inspire meaningful transformation in schools, leadership, and communities, and is the author of a forthcoming guidebook on Engaging Holistically with the Quran.
