Basma Abdelgafar​
Non-Resident Research Fellow

Dr. Basma Abdelgafar is an avid reader and reflector on the Quran and Sunnah, and is actively engaged in researching and presenting their implications for contemporary life. Her career spans three decades and includes positions in academia, government, and non-governmental organizations. Dr. Abdelgafar has contributed to the development of graduate and training programs internationally. Her books examine topics including Quranic morality, Muslims in plural societies, public policy in Islam, and global policy and innovation. 

​Dr. Abdelgafar will be researching and writing a book on Quranic pedagogy. Her work and interest in this area complements CICW's Prophetic Pedagogy program.  She will also be teaching at CICW summer and winter schools as required.​
